The powerful promise in II Chronicles 16:9 did not work for King Asa Why ? The Story The 12 tribes were divided as Israel and Judah (they are brothers) Syrian is an enemy of the tribes! Asa was the king of Judah and Baasha was the king of Israel.They had been fighting against each other for a very long time.  Asa was very particular in setting a few things right that his evil father had done as a king. King Baasha came against King Asa by building a city Ramah in his area.   Asa instead of asking the Lord, sought help from a Syrian King. Ofcourse King Asa won against Baasha with the help of a Syrian. But He missed a major victory that could have brought peace for a longer term! The Lord spoke through a seer to king Asa , that because you sought help from Syrians you made them escape from you(meaning they will trouble you in future).
